FAQ's About Family Sessions
What if my child doesn't cooperate?
Bring the chaos, the energy, the shy kids, and even the meltdowns. As a stay-at-home mom to a toddler, I completely understand that children have their own personalities, moods, and schedules. My goal is not perfection—it's capturing your family as you are. Some of the most meaningful images come from the moments in between.
What can I bring to help my child during the session?
Feel free to bring a favorite stuffed animal, blanket, toy, comfort item, or anything that helps your child feel comfortable. I also have a dinosaur lens buddy that little ones absolutely love, and yes—I have been known to pull out the fart machine on my phone if it helps get some genuine giggles!
Should I bring snacks?
Absolutely! I recommend non-sticky, non-staining snacks such as Cheerios, Goldfish crackers, pretzels, oyster crackers, mini marshmallows, or dry cereal. Avoid chocolate, popsicles, juice pouches, gummies, or anything that could stain clothing or faces.
What if my kids won't sit still?
That's perfectly okay! In fact, I often encourage movement. We'll play games like Red Light Green Light, race to mom and dad for a big hug, spin around, tell jokes, make silly faces, and run together. Some of my favorite images come from children simply being themselves.
What should we wear?
Neutral colors, earth tones, soft patterns, and coordinating outfits tend to photograph beautifully. I always recommend coordinating rather than matching exactly. Once you book, I'm happy to help with outfit selections.
How do you get natural smiles from kids?
Every child is different. Sometimes it's a silly noise, a game, music, talking about their favorite cartoon, or even pretending I accidentally passed gas from my fart machine app on my phone LOL. My goal is always to create genuine reactions rather than forcing smiles.
