Photo Locations in DFW That Don't Feel Like Texas

When most people think about Texas photo locations, they picture open fields, cowboy boots, bluebonnets, and rustic barns.


And while we certainly have plenty of those, Dallas-Fort Worth is also home to some surprisingly unique locations that feel nothing like what most people imagine when they think of Texas.


As a DFW photographer, I'm constantly scouting locations that offer something different. Whether you're planning family photos, senior portraits, engagement photos, a proposal, or a couples session, these locations provide stunning backdrops that feel like you've traveled far beyond North Texas.


Mandalay Canal | Irving / Las Colinas


If you've ever wanted photos that feel like they were taken somewhere in Europe, Mandalay Canal is one of the closest things you'll find in DFW.


The stone walkways, bridges, canals, and charming architecture create a romantic atmosphere that feels completely different from traditional Texas scenery.


This location is especially beautiful during golden hour when the sunlight reflects off the water and buildings.

Entrada of Westlake


Entrada is one of the most unique locations in the entire Dallas-Fort Worth area.


Inspired by European architecture, this location features stone buildings, beautiful archways, cobblestone streets, fountains, and upscale surroundings that make it feel like you've stepped into another country.


It's elegant, timeless, and photographs beautifully year-round.

Airfield Falls | Westlake


A waterfall probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you think about North Texas.


That's exactly why Airfield Falls makes this list.


Between the waterfall, river access, willow tree, walking trails, and lush greenery, this location feels more like a hidden nature escape than a spot tucked inside the Fort Worth area.


One of my favorite things about Airfield Falls is how many different looks we can create within one session.

The Dallas Arboretum feels more like a destination garden than a typical Texas park.


The manicured landscaping, seasonal flowers, fountains, pathways, and beautifully maintained grounds create a polished look that photographs beautifully in every season.

Fort Worth Botanic Garden


The Fort Worth Botanic Garden offers one of the most diverse photography experiences in DFW.


From formal gardens and stone bridges to lush greenery and colorful blooms, it's easy to forget you're still in Fort Worth.


One reason I love this location is that every section feels different, allowing us to create a gallery with incredible variety without ever leaving the property.

Nestled within a beautiful Dallas neighborhood, Flippen Park feels like a hidden garden retreat.


The mature trees, charming gazebo, water features, and seasonal flowers create a romantic and polished atmosphere that photographs beautifully throughout the year.
